LeBron James Injury Update: Cavs Star Player Out For 2 Weeks Due to Strained Knee and Back Pain
While he is treated for a strained left knee and lower back pain, Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James will not be seen on the court for two weeks.
The NBA made the announcement on Thursday as they noted that James would be needing the said amount of time after the results of his MRI exam and radiograph test conducted after the Cavs lost to the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.
Yahoo Sports said in a report that James will be treated "anti-inflammatories, rehabilitation, training room treatments and rest."
According to ESPN, the team wants to prioritize the health of James and pay attention to his recovery.
"First and foremost, we want to make sure LeBron is well and completely recovered. The season is long and our main objective is that he will be well and strong for the rest of the season. But we have to fight it out and work every day to build others until he gets back after the time he needs," Cavs coach David Blatt was quoted by ESPN as saying.
A two-week absence would mean that James will miss about 10 or more games of the season including the match against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday and versus the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
Reports said that James experienced intense knee pain during the Christmas Day game in Miami saying that his knee hurt "pretty much all year."
"I've been playing with it, and it goes away and comes back. So, the one in Miami kind of reaggravated it when I came out of the game in the third quarter," he told ESPN.
Aside from his injury and recovery efforts, James also touched on his next plans in his career and how he wants to proceed with it.
"I'm here to build something great in the present and in the future, and that's the reason I'm back. I got no other reason to have to continue to talk about things that's so outlandish. I'm here. This is where I'll be, and this is where I'm comfortable at," he added.
Aside from James, the Cavs will also be playing without Kevin Love who suffered from back spasms and Shawn Marion who is out with a sore left ankle.
Despite this condition, James noted that the team will remain focused in their games and be positive for what is coming next.
"Just stay even keel and knowing that there's always sunshine on the other side of the mountain, man. I don't get too high or too low, especially in the NBA season. It's too long, it's too many emotions, it's too many things, it's too many storylines that if you let yourself get involved in it too much that it can bother you mentally, and I've been able to just stay away from it," he added in the ESPN report.
