Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao: Filipino Champ Tells The Money, 'Let's Make Fistory'
With the start of the New Year, Manny Pacquiao had something to tell Floyd Mayweather Jr. and it was about being true to his words to finally make the megafight happen.
In welcoming the new year, the Filipino fighter proved to the public how serious he is in encouraging Mayweather to finalize their fight in May.
A post on his Twitter page indicated how badly Pacquiao is craving for a taste of the undefeated fighter on the opposite side of the ring.
"The ball will drop at midnight to usher in 2015. @FloydMayweather let's not drop the ball on fighting each other next year! #LetsMakeFistory," he tweeted.
ESPN noted that the 36-year-old fighter has become very vocal of his intention to go against Mayweather especially for the past months and after the American fighter said he will already agree to fight Pacquiao in May this year. The possible fight is considered to be one of the most expensive in history especially that it will bring together two of the most famous boxers of this time.
Pacquiao and Mayweather have been paired for the past years but negotiations do not seem to prosper as both camps have not really discussed concrete plans to make the fight happen.
Because of the long-delayed fight, Pacquiao has repeatedly challenged Mayweather to stop avoiding him. According to ESPN, the Filipino fighter has even appeared in a Foot Locker commercial where he joyously expressed his excitement in fighting Mayweather.
Earlier this month, Pacquiao also tweeted to Mayweather saying: "Don't be a boxing humbug. Let's give the fans the fight they want. They have waited long enough."
A similar RingTV report said that there are already negotiations on the fight and that Pacquiao is always updated with the talks in the May 2 fight plans.
"We're still in negotiations with Floyd's group through Top Rank. I spoke to Manny this morning. I gave Manny what is perceived to be a counter offer from the Mayweather people," said Pacquiao's adviser Michael Koncz told RingTV.
He added that they have discussed the plans already and have given instruction to Bob Arum "to counter their counter."
"We've been going back and forth. Bob has been negotiating with the powers that be on Floyd's side for the past couple of weeks. There's been offers and counter offers, and a couple of days ago Bob called me and gave me allegedly where Floyd's side is, and I discussed that with Manny two hours ago," Koncz added.
In the coming months, the people will see if these negotiations will really materialize and if Mayweather will be true to his words that he "would love to fight Manny Pacquiao" on May 2.
Pacquiao, on the other hand, is very much ready to agree to any purse money Mayweather will give him during the fight.
