Air Jordan Release Dates 2014: AJ 4LAB 1 'Glow' Photos, Price & Where to Buy on Dec. 31

By Nens Bolilan| Dec 30, 2014

The Jordan Brand is not one to pass up on the holiday buying frenzy, releasing Dec. 31, the $185 Jordan 4Lab1 "Glow," an easy-to-match model with a white base broken by the a few details -- and then a surprise when the lights go out.

"The Air Jordan 4Lab1 features design elements of the Air Jordan IV on the classic Air Jordan I silhouette," said Nike.com, which will start receiving orders on Dec. 31 at 8 a.m. EST (5 a.m. PST).

According to Sneaker News, the Air Jordan 4Lab1 has been getting mixed reviews -- the "Tropical Teal" variant did not gain traction while the "Reflective Silver" colorway hit the sweet spot among consumers.

Nike.com's shoe description revealed that the mesh that wraps the colorway is similar to that used in the Air Jordan IV. The model also carries the Air Jordan 1 Wings logo on the outer side of the ankle area and Nike's Swoosh just below it, pushing itself out.

It added that the silvery and black linings and laces and the icy outsole break the white monotony. Most of the shoe gets a toxic green glow when in the dark.

Glow in the dark feature

Sneaker News asked: "...[H]ow will this dual glow in the dark/ pristine white and ice pair do to end 2014?"

"Reflective 3M detailing and glow in the dark tendencies are now an expected premium detailing in 2014," another Sneaker News report said, adding that the Air Jordan 4Lab1 was able to play with those trends.

That glow-in-the-dark feature would "keep you looking fresh even at night," said Sneaker Bar Detroit. "The best feature of the shoe is the glow-in-the-dark that covers the entire netting of the shoes upper," the report added.

"The stark white hue and reflective silver transforms when the lights turn down low, immediately illuminating the clean upper of the 4Lab1," explained Kicks on Fire.

It's "probably [the] most exciting version of the new Air Jordan 4Lab1," High Snobiety commented, while suggesting that the pair is "...[p]erfect for the end of the year and your New Year's Eve parties."

Kicks on Fire added that the Air-Sole cushioning and the icy outsole are plus points, mentioning that Jordan Brand retailer Sneaker Politics will sell the product.

Comments from sneaker fans

In the latter Sneaker News report, a commenter said: "These Jordan's looks neat cool for 2015 let's get it on!", while another declared, "Garbage." A Sneaker Bar Detroit commenter seemed to agree: "[It's] better looking in the dark than light."

On Sole Collector, 57 percent want to cop the shoe as 43 percent do not like it.

According to Foot Locker Unlocked, House of Hoops by Foot Locker stores will carry the model (visit it's Launch Locator), so will Footlocker.com starting at 8 a.m. EST. Also check out Ebay and Rise
