‘Titanfall 2’ Release Date & Updates: Xbox-Exclusive Game Sequel Coming to PS4, PS3 & Steam?
Just recently, Respawn Entertainment co-founder Vince Zampella dropped some revelations about the upcoming sequel to "Titanfall." According to GameSpot, the developer company's arrangement with Electronic Arts probably loosened, resulting to the possibility of "Titanfall 2" coming to Steam. As players would know, the current title's PC version has always been exclusive to EA's Origin hub.
In addition, Zampella hinted that "Titanfall 2" could actually release among PlayStation consoles, said the outlet. "Titanfall" is currently exclusive for the PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
If the report materializes, the franchise is definitely widening its horizons by reaching out to more prospective players. At this point, it is unknown whether or not the sequel comes only for the PS4, PS3, both or more. The game's release date has not been confirmed.
Express took note of Zampella's words, "We would have loved for it [Titanfall] to be on Steam from day one, but at some point it just doesn't make sense anymore and you start looking to the future and I think we should not make that same decision again."
He also confirmed, "I've already said future projects will not necessarily be exclusive [to Microsoft]."
Meanwhile, IGN cited Zampella's announcement of the split within his company's development teams. Accordingly, one team will work on "Titanfall," while another sets foot on things unrelated to the franchise.
The outlet took note of the CEO's dialogue with Game Informer, "There is a second team. Non-'Titanfall' related... The 'Titanfall' team still exists as a fully functional team...We have another team in pre-production that's smaller, just starting up. But it's a much smaller group at this point."
Zampella's interview revealed more juicy details, and we've curated them below:
1. Following Respawn's completion of its season pass for "Titanfall," there are nearly 8 million players of the title.
2. Currently, there are no new contents "necessarily planned" for the game. They are more likely to come in the future.
3. Zampella emphasized about moving on to the "next game." He said the company could potentially look into different things.
4. When Respawn begins a new project, the company determines the best possible setup for each game. He's not convinced that triple-A titles would go away anytime soon.
5. Zampella explained that he would be considering free-to-play games in the future, but not in the case of "Titanfall."
The CEO went on to admit that Respawn's 2015 will be "a little quiet." The company will get back to work, set to figure out its plans for the future. Perhaps we won't be seeing "Titanfall 2" just yet.
