Nokia Lumia 1330 Release Date, Specs & Features: 14MP PureView Camera on Phablet?
Speculations surrounding Nokia 1320's successor boiled up just before Christmas -- and we're most surprised to find out that its main camera might just get a whopping, two-digit megapixel upgrade.
It's the rumored Nokia Lumia 1330, the mid-range phablet allegedly launching at the next Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. GSMArena reported that the device has been suggested to feature a 5.7-inch 720p display, 1 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 400 SoC processor.
But then again, it's the rear camera upgrade that's making headlines -- a 14 MP PureView camera marks a huge jump from the 5 MP version packed by Lumia 1320. The front, "selfie" snapper likewise gets a level-up, reportedly running 5 MP. Lumia 1320 housed a 1.2 MP version, said Phone Arena.
If the rumors bear truth, we can expect to see a revamped Lumia line next year. BGR India reported that the rumored specifications of the handset are filed under model number RM-1062. The source also took note that the model's 32 GB storage is another bump from 1520's 8 GB version.
It must also be noted that Microsoft is behind the creation of the speculated handset, BGR said. Citing the $7.2 billion April deal between the involved companies, BBC earlier reported that Microsoft is dropping the "Nokia" name on future smartphones. As a result, the rumored device may actually be called Microsoft Lumia 1330.
At present, it isn't known yet whether or not 1330 would allow expandable memory, wrote International Business Times.
Meanwhile, Phone Arena described the Lumia 1320 as "the poor man's phablet on the Windows Phone platform." Accordingly, the device had a 6-inch screen, 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and dual-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 processor. The last two specs seem to put the Lumia 1520 in greater advantage, most specially that it packed a gargantuan 20 MP rear camera.
As for the Lumia 1330, the outlet cited data coming from the Windows Phone cross-promotion network AdDuplex, which claimed that the device arrives in four different variants. Noted model numbers include RM-1062, RM-1063, RM-1064 and RM-1065.
GSMArena added that the Lumia 1330 possibly comes out alongside Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2. As we have previously reported, the next Mobile World Congress happens on Mar. 2 - 5, 2015. Other devices expected to launch at the event include Samsung's Galaxy S6 (and S6 Edge) and HTC's One M9 (and M9 Prime).
