Robert Downey Jr. hinted "Iron Man 4" on his official Facebook page.

ComicBook.com reported the news, saying that the 49-year-old actor (or his representatives, at least) posted a photo on Facebook with a caption that reads: "So...would the next one just be a shot of my chest hair?"

Take a look at the image below.

Fans naturally reacted to the photo. According to ComicBook.com, "The comments thread almost immediately filled up with responses like 'Wait...did you say next one?'"

Downey's current contract in Marvel only includes "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and the forthcoming "Avengers 3," ComingSoon.net reports. He previously stated that there is no plan for a fourth "Iron Man" film, but he contradicted his statement when he made an appearance back in October on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." In the interview, Downey stated that there is a possibility that he would don Tony Stark's costume again for "Iron Man 4."

"I know there's going to be a bunch more Marvel movies," he said, as quoted by ComingSoon.net. "And they have big ideas of how to do it best and we're in the middle of negotiation..." DeGeneres quickly asked, "So, yes?" which led Downey to respond, "Okay, yes!"

Downey also revealed during an interview on "The Late Show with David Letterman" about Marvel Studios' plans for their future roster of films.

"They do have a plan, and I think they're going to announce - they're very secretive about it," the actor told Letterman, as quoted by The Guardian.

When pressed about "Iron Man 4," he said, The Guardian reports. "Just between us, no - but I'm going to do other stuff with Marvel. I'm still going to be involved with Marvel and there's going to be plenty of other fun stuff."

Downey has been vague about "Iron Man 4," made obvious by the contradicting statement he remarked during interviews. While filming "Avengers: Age of Ultron," Downey hinted that the fourth installment of the "Iron Man" franchise may happen, but fans should hold on to their hats until a confirmation has been made official by Marvel.

"It's down to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that's on us to agree or disagree," he said, as quoted by Entertainment Weekly. "When things are going great, there's a lot of agreement."

Downey was named as the highest paid actor in the world by Forbes, according to Entertainment Weekly. He earned $75 million over the past year, with "Iron Man 3" listed as the highest-grossing live-action movie of 2013. The film earned $1.21 billion in the blockbuster office.
