Bob Dylan's 'Like a Rolling Stone' Music Video is Officially the Coolest Thing Ever
Every so often, something so cool comes along that it makes you rethink your entire existence. We strive to be cool. We work hard to fit in enough to be accepted, yet stand out enough to be unique. But when something so unbelievably cool comes along, it puts us in our place. It reminds us that we’re not actually that cool and that we’ll never create something as totally awesome. This might sound like an overreaction. It might sound pessimistic, but once you see it for yourself, you’ll understand.
Bob Dylan has released the first music video for “Like a Rolling Stone.” If you need to hear more before diving in head first, the music video allows viewers to change the channels for a completely unique and interactive experience. It’s as if you’re watching television. You can flip through the channels to cooking shows, music videos, sports programs, news reports etc., where in each one the actors and/or characters are lip syncing to Dylan’s masterpiece.
The “shows” include the cast of “Pawn Stars,” Drew Carey hosting “The Price is Right,” Marc Maron on “Maron,” an ESPN segment, a children’s cartoon and rapper Danny Brown.
The official press release reads, “Nearly a half-century later, a groundbreaking interactive project has been created for the song, allowing fans to experience the classic recording in unprecedented ways. Celebrities and reality stars are featured throughout the various channels including cameos by Drew Carey & The Price is Right, Danny Brown, Pawn Stars, Property Brothers, ESPN and more. The video showcases a patented technology platform, created by the digital media company Interlude, which allows viewers to play an active role in the story of the music video.”
But do yourself a favor and try it out for yourself. Although it will remind you of how uncool you are and how cool Bob Dylan is, it’s totally worth it.
