'Gran Turismo 7' PS4 Release Date News & Rumors: 'The Best' GT Coming, Says Eric Fishback

By Staff| Dec 08, 2014

The next installment in simulation racing game "Gran Turismo" could be the best one yet -- specially that it arrives to next-gen console PS4. Push Square cited community manager Eric Fishback, who told visitors during a PlayStation Experience panel, "What you can expect from 'Gran Turismo' on the PS4, which is the strongest console ever, is the best 'Gran Turismo' that you can imagine."

That sounds really tempting, given the fact that the franchise has always been a big seller -- despite the disappointment in sales of "Gran Turismo 6" cited by WCCF.

So the big question lingers: When are we actually seeing "Gran Turismo 7" in the PS4?

Well, we might have to wait a little longer, because the sequel is expected to come sometime in 2015 or 2016. This expectation came from series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, who told GamesTM in an earlier interview, "Everything will be running naturally... We want to make it very 'Gran Turismo.' By that I mean it's going to be a game that matches the very era that we live in, in 2015 or 2016."

Yamauchi revealed that "Gran Turismo" for the PS3 was "much more difficult" to develop compared to its PS4 version. Recall that "GT6" was released for the former console in Dec. 2013, wrote Gamespot. Apparently, the PS4 just launched around this time.

"PS3 was much, much more difficult. The high quality of data that we have being rendered on the PS4 I think is going to make an incredible difference," the creator confessed.

Fishback's fresh announcement of "GT7" also came in accordance with Yamauchi's expressed vision. The latter explicitly told in his interview, "For GT7, myself and my staff have a clear vision: to do everything we couldn't do in GT6."

Yamauchi had predicted that "GT7" won't be hitting shelves this year, as noted by Eurogamer in June. At the time of reporting, the outlet confirmed that the major overhaul is indeed coming to "GT7," while "GT6" would have sound quality improvement. In addition, Yamauchi revealed that his team won't be throwing away standard cars, "Each car has its own fans. So I think we'll hang on to the archive."

As we have previously covered, "GT7" is reportedly packing better visuals, mechanics, smarter AI and more online options. It was then speculated that the upcoming game's prologue will also be out, but CVG has reported otherwise.

What do you want to see in "Gran Turismo 7?" Will it be worth the wait? Sound off in the comments section below.
