'The Voice' 2014 Top 5 Revealed; Pharrell Eliminated - Results, Recap & Replay
The five semi-finalists of the seventh season of "The Voice" are finally revealed. However, three artists were unfortunately sent home after the live elimination of the show. Read on for more details.
The show kicked off with a performance from "The Voice" alumna Christina Grimmie, who sang her debut single "With Love." Aside from Grimmie, season two contestant and country singer Rae Lynn graced the stage with her song "God Made Girls," The Hollywood Reporter said.
After Grimmie's and Lynn's performance, host Carson Daly finally revealed the bottom four or the four singers with the lowest number of votes. The artists were challenged to perform for the #InstantSave, "which has audiences at home voting during a fragile five-minute window (via Twitter or the Voice app) to keep one of endangered singers in the competition," The Hollywood Reporter added.
The first artist who performed vying for America's votes is last woman standing DaNica Shirey of Team Pharrell Williams, singing Etta James' "I'd Rather Go Blind." Her coach begged voters to give her a chance, saying, "She deserves to be here," as quoted by Hollywood Life.
Next up is Luke Wade, also from Team Pharell, who sang "Stand By Me." According to The Hollywood Reporter, his performance started off strong "but falls into a few odd pauses during the sparse chorus." Pharell told Wade, "The music inside of you, everyone deserves to hear it, and we're gonna do it," NJ.com reported.
Gwen Stefani's twice-saved Ryan Sill came next, singing a rendition of Bryan Adams' "Heaven." Stefani said, "Maybe why you keep getting saved is because you are so good at singing....we are all watching you get better every time you get up there," Hollywood Life reported.
Chris Jamison of Team Adam Levine, on the other hand, sang Ray Charles' "Georgia On My Mind," which, The Hollywood Reporter noted, proved that "he can handle classics as well as current chart-toppers."
After a commercial break, Daly finally announced the one artist who America chose to save. And it's no other than Jamison. He will be joining Matt McAndrew, Damien, Taylor John Williams, and Craig Wayne Boyd in the Top 5. This result meant that Williams have no one in his team left for the competition as it draws to a close.
