Malaysia vs. Qatar AFC Asian Cup 2015 Qualifiers: Live Score, Preview, Prediction, Schedule 7:45 a.m. EST

By Staff Reporter| Nov 19, 2013

Qatar and Malaysia will face off in a crucial AFC Asian Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

Qatar enters the match in second place in Group D with nine points in four games. The team defeated Malaysia 2-0 in its opening qualifier at home before losing 1-0 against Bahrain. In its third game, Qatar destroyed Yemen 6-0; it managed a 4-1 win over Yemen on the road in the return leg.

Malaysia is in third place in the group and is unlikely to finish in the top two of the group unless it manages two straight wins in its final two games. The team will likely end up battling for the top third place spot in the entire confederation to have any chance of qualifying.

Malaysia lost 2-0 against Qatar in its opener but defeated Yemen 2-1 in the second game. In the third match the team drew 1-1 draw Bahrain but lost 1-0 with the same team in the rematch.

"I hope Qatar will give us a chance to beat them this Tuesday," said Kelentan FA President Tan Sri Annuar Musa according to Goal.com. "Plus, Qatar is on the verge of qualification so I hope we can get that one slot for the best third-placed team."

Qatar will qualify if it manages a win or draw in this matchup. A loss would give Malaysia the chance to qualify for second place as the team would take on Yemen and Qatar would face Bahrain in its final game. If Malaysia beats Yemen and Qatar loses against Bahrain, then Malaysia would finish second and earn qualification. However, Malaysia must defeat Qatar in order for this scenario to have any chance of happening.

Prediction: Qatar wins 1-0.

Start Time: Kick off begins at 7:45 a.m. EST

The match will not be broadcast live online or on television in the United States.
