Netherlands vs. Colombia Live Stream, Score, Preview, Prediction, Schedule: International Friendly 2013
Colombia and the Netherlands will face off in an international friendly on Tuesday.
Both teams are seen as top contenders for the World Cup next summer, but it is clear that the European contingent is one of the top teams in the world. Colombia, despite its high FIFA ranking, still has a great deal to prove in this match.
The Colombians have faltered on a number of occasions over the last 20 years, including a group exit in the 1994 World Cup. The nation has been known for failing to live up to expectations in the past, but the level of anticipation for this club at the moment is as high as it has ever been.
That anticipation was created after the squad performed admirably in qualifiers starting in late 2012. However on Thursday, the level of hype reached another level after Colombia embarrassed Belgium in Brussels. The game ended 2-0 and seemed to be far closer than the score indicated; Belgium hit a few posts and could have easily drawn or won the game. However, Colombia was a constant threat on the attack and looked increasingly confident as the match wore on. Team superstar Radamel Falcao scored the opening goal for Los Cafeteros and continues to show that he can perform on the big stages.
The Dutch are more experienced than Belgium and offer an equally versatile attack. This should test Colombia's defense, which continues to be its weak point.
Prediction: Colombia plays well but succumbs to a potent Dutch side in a 2-1 final.
Start Time: Kick off begins at 2:30 p.m. EST
