‘Doctor Who’ Christmas 2014 Episode Air Date, Cast, Plot & Trailer: 'Last Christmas' For Clara Hinted in Poster?
"Doctor Who" has already released the title and teaser poster for the Christmas special of the show one month before its premiere, The Independent reported.
The title of the festive episode, which will star Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman with the special participation of Nick Frost as Santa Claus, will be "Last Christmas" and is scheduled to premiere on BBC on Christmas Day.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the title of the episode may be an indication that it will be the last run for the actress.
Coleman on the other hand refused to comment on the rumors, but promised fans of the show that they will be in for a "big surprise," according to MStars News.
Rumors about her alleged departure from the show began in August, but she or the showrunners have yet to confirm or deny the rumors.
During an interview with the Radio Times back in September, Coleman said everyone has decided to keep the matter private and not let anyone know what was going to happen or if she will be staying on the show.
According to her, viewers would be able to know how the story will end if they learn whether or not she will be in the next series.
"It's better that nobody knows which way it's going to go so that's where we're trying to keep it at the moment," she added.
Meanwhile, THR said showrunner Steven Moffat revealed earlier this month that Coleman has not yet signed on for the ninth series of "Doctor Who," while Capaldi, the lead actor of the show, already did.
Coleman became a part of the show beginning on the 2012 Christmas episode, called "The Snowmen" when the Doctor was still played by Matt Smith, according to the Independent.
"The key is not to worry about the future and enjoy it," she told the Independent earlier this year, adding that playing the role of Clara has made her "really happy."
In addition, she said that that being a part of the show was "one of the jobs that will only happen once - the whole adventure that it brings.
However, according to the International Business Times, the "Last Christmas" episode would not be the first time that the Christmas episode of the show has a sad note to it.
During a previous Christmas special, the doctor has also dealt with losses, including Billie Piper's character Rose in the "Runaway Bride."
