Kevin Durant Injury: Dwight Howard 'P***y' Insult Hurled at Rockets vs Thunder Altercation
Oklahoma City Thunders' Kevin Durant expressed his frustration to his team's loss against the Houston Rockets on Sunday by reportedly calling Dwight Howard a "p***y."
Durant, who was not able to play because of a recent foot surgery, was surely upset with his team's 69-65 loss against the Rockets.
Sports Illustrated wrote that the "chippy game" led Durant to tag Howard with such a name.
On his Twitter account, Oklahoman's Anthony Slater revealed that the Thunder star "repeatedly" called Howard a "p***y" while he was watching from the sidelines.
A Deadspin report noted that this alleged remark by Durant was "not quite as harsh" as Kobe Bryant's "soft motherf*cker, b*tch-*ss n*gg*" comment on Howard during the season opener.
"Nobody thinks Dwight Howard is tough, and everyone is very eager to let him know as much," Deadspin added.
Fansided, on the other hand, was shocked at how Durant reacted on Sunday, saying that he is one of the "calmest and most professional players" in the NBA.
"Who knows what rubbed him the wrong way about Howard, but it was very obvious that he was not pleased with him (Howard) tonight," the report stated.
Perhaps the Thunders star was only expressing his anger and frustration on the low score of his team despite a low shooting percentage from their opponent.
In a report by ESPN, it was noted that James Harden only scored 19 points while Howard made 12 points and 9 rebounds. It added that the last time the team won with a score lower than 69 was way back in 2005 against Utah Jazz.
"Same kind of game, probably. A slow, grinding game, and we just need to rebuild our mental toughness, so it's going to be another great challenge for us," Harden told ESPN.
He was also able to hit a 3-pointer when the score was tied at 65. Harden then went for another three-pointer but missed. According to ESPN, it was the chance for the Thunders to tie the game but they did not make it happen.
The game was also laced with four technical fouls and a flagrant 1 called on Nick Collison against Howard.
But despite the ugly game, OKC's Steven Adams said via ESPN, "I don't think there was bad blood. I think it was just competitive. I think we're just two highly competitive teams, and we just want to go after it, really."
The Rockets are set to face the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday in Texas while the OKC will go against Utah Jazz on Tuesday, November 18, at the Energysolutions Arena, Salt Lake City, Utah.
