'Terminator 5 Genisys' 2015 Cast, Plot & News: Jai Courtney for 'Suicide Squad'?
Jai Courtney of "Terminator: Genisys" is currently in negotiation to join the cast of "Suicide Squad," a Warner Bros.' movie based on DC Entertainment villains, The Hollywood Reporter revealed.
Courtney may play the role of "Batman" villain Deadshot in the project, written and directed by David Ayer, Variety reported. Deadshot is one of the main villains in the "Batman" universe. If the deal goes through, the actor will be joining Jared Leto as The Joker, Tom Hardy as Rick Flag, and Will Smith as Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and maybe even Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor.
'Terminator: Genisys' Cast and Plot
Courtney also stars in the upcoming sci-fi movie, "Terminator: Genisys," the fifth installment of the hit "Terminator" franchise. According to Cinema Blend, the "Divergent" actor will play Kyle Reese, the human robot fighter sent back in time to protect Sarah Connor and become John Connor's father.
Arnold Schwarzenegger will play T-800 in the film. The 66-year-old former body builder has played the character in every "Terminator" movie, Cinema Blend noted. Emilia Clarke will play Sarah Connor, which was previously portrayed by Linda Hamilton and Clarke's "Game of Thrones" co-star, Lena Headey. Australian actor Jason Clarke will portray John Connor and will appear in the early scenes of the film in the War Against Skynet.
"At this time you may notice that Jason Clarke is actually considerably older than the actress who is playing his mother, but that can easily be explained away by the fact that the Terminator franchise is all about time travel," Cinema Blend further reported.
Other cast members include Dayo Okeniyi as Danny Dyson, J.K. Simmons, Byung Hun Lee, and former "Doctor Who" star Matt Smith. The film will be directed by Alan Taylor and written by Laeta Kalogridis & Patrick Lussier, Cinema Blend added.
"Terminator: Genisys" is Taylor's second big budget action movie; the first being the blockbuster hit "Thor: The Dark World."
According to Cinema Blend, there hasn't been any official release about the plot of the fifth "Terminator" installment, but "it will involve another Terminator being sent back from the future" and "that it will land in an alternate timeline, where Sarah Connor is being raised by a T-800." "Terminator: Genisys" will be the first out of the three planned films.
Entertainment Weekly added that the movie "is set in 2029, when the Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes." According to the report, the upcoming movie aims to take the familiar elements of the original 1984 "Terminator" and "rework them in striking new ways."
"Terminator: Genisys" will premiere in theaters on July 1, 2015.
