LeBron James Triple Double: Top 5 NBA Players Following Cavs Star's 37 Record
On Tuesday, Cleveland Cavaliers player LeBron James made his 38th career triple double when his team played against the New Orleans Hornets.
James made 32 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists and sealed a 118-110 victory against the Hornets. According to CheatSheet, the Cavs star already has 37 triple doubles to his name making him the best player in the league.
His record brings to mind the question: Who comes next to him in terms of this 37 record? Well, below are five of them:
1. Rajon Rondo - CheatSeat said that the Boston Celtics player is the closest to James with 20. ESPN said that the player sealed this record during Wednesday's game against the Toronto Raptors. Rondo is said to be one of the most talented players in the league averaging 9.3 points, 9 rebound and 12.5 assists per game.
2. Kobe Bryant - CheatSheet said that Bryant is next to James and Rondo with 19. Aside from this ranking, however, Sports Illustrated said that Bryant also lead the list of playes with the most number of missed shots. The report revealed that the LA Lakers star has already passed former Boston Celtics player Jon Havlicek's record of 13,147 during his game against the Memphies Grizzlies last Tuesday.
3. Kevin Garnett - The record of the Brooklyn Nets player is at 16. The player recently said in an interview with GiveMeSport that to survive in the NBA, one must be an "a*****e."
"[You don't last long in] this league by just whispering or being a nice guy or a guy the ladies like, You've got to be an a-----e," Garnett said.
4. Chris Paul - Paul already has 12 triple-doubles in his career with his latest one made during last week's game against the Utah Jazz where he made 13 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists.
5. Lamar Odom - Odom is tied with Paul with 12 triple-doubles. After being waived by the New York Knicks last July, TMZ said that Lamar's career may likely be over.
The listed players are just some of the most talented players in the league though it can be observed that the record of the others is still very far from the achievement of James, leading people to think that he is still indeed the top player in the NBA. It also seems that he is back with a vengeance this season after his former team, the Miami Heat lost to the San Antonio Spurs during the NBA finals last season.
