Anderson Silva vs Chris Weidman 3 Will be 'Easy Payday,' Says UFC Middleweight Champ
UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman seems very confident in his skills and talent as an MMA fighter. In fact, facing Anderson Silva again won't be a big challenge for him.
"If that's what people want to see then it will happen. Easy payday? Yeah pretty much. With all due respect. With all due respect to the division, no one is beating me at 185. Sorry. I think everybody is talented. I think everyone has a threat, but none of them are beating me," he explained, as quoted by Bloody Elbow.
Weidman has already won twice against Silva so he has already gained the confidence to claim victory again for a possible third fight. According to MMA Mania, Weidman beat Silva at UFC 162 via a knockout win which ended the Brazilian fighter's winning streak.
Six months after, Weidman again defeated Silva at UFC 168 which ended with "The Spider" breaking his leg.
But prior to a third match with Silva, Weidman is set to face Vitor Belfort at UFC 184 on Feb. 28 in Los Angeles. The champ seemed to be excited for this fight but he expressed concern on a recent random drug test that his opponent took.
"He just took a test the other day and I'm hoping he passes. That's the first thought. The second thought is February 28 and I'm going to completely dominate him," he told Bloody Elbow.
Belfort earlier underwent drug testing after Weidman prodded the Nevada State Athletic Commission to conduct the test on his opponent since he has history with testosterone-replacement therapy.
MMA Junkie said that Weidman questioned Belfort's use of illegal drugs and what this can do their upcoming match.
But even after the drug test was conducted, the reigning champ said that he is still "honestly worried" that his preparation will just "go to waste." His feeling is also shared by fellow fighters Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping.
"Vitor's a joke to me. Let's see what comes out (of the tests). I'm very interested to see what he turns up and I'm interested to see what happens to the drug test he took the other day," Rockhold told FightLine.
Bisping, on the other hand, said that he is also looking forward to the results of the tests of Belfort who once defeated him inside the Octagon. "Vitor was juiced to the gills for many years and now he's not. Is he going to be the same person? That's the question that everybody's asking and only he knows. We shall see."
