Macaulay Culkin Dead? Nope, Alive & in a Band
Former child star-turned-rocker, Macaulay Culkin, assured fans he is alive and well after rumors of his death circulated on the Internet.
According to Mirror, the 34-year-old "Home Alone" star recreated a scene from the 1989 comedy "Weekend at Bernie's" with his band mates to put an end to speculations. In the photo Culkin posted on the band's Twitter account, he played dead while a band mate was propping him up, depicting the dead character Bernie Lomax in the film. The comedy movie starred Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman "as two guys who try to convince everyone their dead boss is still alive," Mirror added.
In another photo (also posted on Twitter), Culkin can be seen holding a Delaware Punch bottle, captioning it with, "We're on tour you silly people / @anchovywarhol's."
The rumors reportedly started on a Facebook mock tribute page allegedly named "RIP Macaulay Culkin," urging people to show their respect and condolences for the "deceased" actor.
"At about 11 a.m. ET on Thursday (November 06, 2014), our beloved actor Macaulay Culkin passed away," the fake Facebook report announced, as quoted by Mirror. "Macaulay Culkin was born on August 26, 1980 in New York. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page."
The page has since been removed, but not before gaining hundreds of thousands of "likes" from fans who believed in the death hoax, Mirror further reported. Facebook users were displeased upon learning that they were fooled by another practical joke.
E! Online reported that this is the second time this year that a death hoax about Culkin went viral. The first one was in April.
Culkin's trending antics
Back in May, Culkin tweeted a photo of himself wearing a t-shirt of Ryan Gosling wearing a t-shirt of Culkin, Mashable reported.
It was captioned, "Let's get meta #ryangosling #macaulayculkin #shirt #pizzaunderground #mug"
It instantly became a hot topic on social media, proving that Culkin still has an impact on today's entertainment circles.
What Culkin is up to lately
The former child star has been on the road touring with his rock group, The Pizza Underground, which performs pizza-themed songs by American rock band The Velvet Underground, Mirror added. Culkin is the vocalist of his band, Mashable wrote.
The Pizza Underground started touring on October 17 in Brooklyn, New York. The band is also set to perform in various cities and town across the U.S. up to December 6, E! Online noted. Last Saturday, The Pizza Underground performed in Austin, Texas, at the Fun Fun Fun Fest. According to a tweet from Jen Clapp, who watched the concert, Culkin's first words when he came onstage were, "I'm alive!"
