'The Hobbit 3: The Battle of the Five Armies' Trailer, Release Date & Cast: Epic War Teaser Out [Watch Here]
This is not for the faint of heart.
Fans can finally rejoice as another trailer of "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" went live Nov. 6. The trailer launches an epic war arising in Middle Earth, action-packed.
Lasting over two minutes, the characters are taken in a new level of thrilling war adventure and stunning visual effects. The trailer opens with Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) condemning Thorin Oakenshield's (Richard Armitage) compulsion to protect his kingdom and treasures.
Reminding Thorin of his promise and the last battle where they "won the mountain," Bilbo is left with no choice but prepare -- as the land claimed must now be protected. Screen Rant noted the need for Gandalf the Grey (Ian McKellen) and fellow members of Middle Earth's White Council to unite in order to defeat the recovering Sauron.
In the trailer, Orlando Bloom is also seen to reprise his character Legolas. As we have previously reported, the film's battle scene is slated to last for nearly an hour -- 45 minutes to be exact.
Adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien's 1937 novel of the same title, "The Hobbit" was divided in three parts for film. "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" came in 2012, while "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" followed on 2013. In an earlier report by IGN, "The Hobbit" trilogy reportedly cost a whopping $745 million in production.
Telegraph cited the events which occurred in the last movie "Desolation of Smaug," where Bilbo attempted to retrieve the Arkenstone. The precious gem belonged to Thorin.
While things seemed to be going smoothly, the unfortunate event arrived when the dragon Smaug (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch) was awakened. Flying from the Lonely Mountain of Erebor, gold-covered Smaug headed to the helpless Lake-town, promising revenge and terror.
"The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" will be Peter Jackson's final installment in the franchise, following the earlier trilogy "The Lord of the Rings" and the first two films of "The Hobbit." In a report by USA Today, the director recognized the last movie as his favorite.
Director Jackson said "It was like a nuclear confrontation at the end. It was ultimately throwing a ring into lava but till then it was massive superpowers coming together."
The film casts Martin Freeman, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Evangeline Lilly, Manu Bennett, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving and Orlando Bloom, wrote The New York Times.
"The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" is set to hit the big screen on Dec. 17, 2014.
