Her love for basketball made her do the almost impossible: play despite being cancer-stricken.

Lauren Hill, a 19-year-old freshman from Mount St. Joseph who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, made her dreams come true when she scored two memorable baskets during their victorious game against Hiram College last Sunday, WCPO reported.

Hill made a "picture-perfect" host using her left hand, added WCPO.

"I don't know what to say. This game was amazing and it was amazing in every way. It's just a dream come true to play on the college level. It was great to just be able to put my foot down and feel the crowd through the vibrations in the floor boards and I just wanted to play. I just love it so much. I love basketball," Hill said in an interview after the game.

It was in October 2013 when hill discovered that she had diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, a brain cancer which cannot be operated and has no known cure. According to WCPO, Hill learned of the news more than a month after she committed to play basketball for Mount St. Joe's in Delhi Township.

But her condition has affected her whole body and made her sensitive to light and noise.

"It's really kind of sad when I can't play and have to sit on the bench. But even when I can't play, I'm going to be there supporting my team because they're hear to support me every day," she told WCPO. Hill, however, said that her suffering did not stop her from fulfilling her dreams. Reports said that she wore protective sunglasses and ear plugs and also practiced shooting with her left hand.

An outpouring of support

A similar USA Today report said that the game also started the #Layup4Lauren challenge which has been taken by thousands of individuals including some top athletes.

Hill said that her layup was a "feel-good moment" in her life. Aside from her initial basket during the first quarter, she also scored during the second half of the game.

"I expected it to stay small, like a community kind of thing. This is the biggest community. We're all together. The world's a big community. Everybody's come together and it's been so amazing," Hill added.

Doctors have reportedly told Hill that Sunday's game might be her last as she has been told that she might not last until Christmas but the basketball player was positive that she will still play another game or two.

"It's not (my last game). Don't we have a next game next week? Two weeks from now. I don't want this to be my last game and I don't plan on it being my last game. Even if I can't play at that time I still plan to be there to support them. I'm going to be there for them," she added.
