'How to Train Your Dragon 3' Release Date, Plot & Trailer: 3 Major Spoilers Revealed
The world of Vikings and dragons interacting with each other, introduced on "How to Train Your Dragon," is highly popular. It's no wonder that a third installment for DreamWorks Animation's movie is in the works.
The first "How to Train Your Dragon" was released in 2010. It revolves around the story of Hiccup, a young boy living in a Viking town called Berk, which has long been at war with dragons. Hiccup doesn't want to join the fight against dragons, but his father and Berk leader Stoick the Vast won't allow his son to do so.
The young boy eventually finds a Night Fury dragon, which he named Toothless and is the last of its species. He eventually discovers that the seemingly harmful creatures are not what they seem.
"How to Train Your Dragon 3" Release Date
As stated on Variety, the third installment of the popular animated series was delayed for another year. "How to Train Your Dragon 3," which was based on British author Cressida Cromwell's series of novels of the same name, is now slated to hit theaters on June 9, 2017.
Cast Members and Creative Team
As of now, the official casting for "How to Train Your Dragon 3" hasn't been announced yet. But Variety confirms that the same team behind the first two movies of the series will be present the third time around, including writer-director Dean DeBlois and producer Bonnie Arnold.
Jay Baruchel will also return to voice the titular character Hiccup, as well as America Ferrera who voiced Astrid and Cate Blanchett who voiced Valka in the second movie, Variety adds.
There has been no news yet whether or not the other lead voice actors -- Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, Craig Ferguson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and T.J. Miller -- will return for the third film.
Spoilers Ahead: Will Part Three Be the End for All Dragons?
Now that Stoick is dead and has been replaced by his son Hiccup as the leader of the Vikings, fans are left to wonder about what's in store for the villagers at Berk and its dragon inhabitants. According to Movie Pilot, there is a threat looming in the distance, and it will greatly affect the dragons.
In the book series, it was implied that all the dragons eventually died out, or at least disappeared. Movie Pilot reported that the first line of the first book was: "There were Dragons when I was a boy." This means that Hiccup is old when the novel started and is merely remembering his adventures with dragons when he was young.
But the big questions are, what happened to the dragons? Did they really perish? Did someone kill them? Or did they just move to another place and left the humans who loved and protected them? And if so, why did they leave?
Whatever the answer may be, it would surely be found in "How to Train Your Dragon 3" or if not, in possible succeeding sequels.
