Scotland vs. United States Live Stream, Score, Preview, Predictions: International Friendly 2013
The United States will take on Scotland in a friendly match on Friday.
The Americans clinched a berth for the World Cup in September and managed to finish atop the standings the CONCACAF. The match will give a number of young players the chance to earn spots for the roster before the World Cup next summer. However, Coach Jurgen Klinsmann has stated that he is a bit disappointed that captain Clint Dempsey will not be available to help the Stars and Stripes in the friendly.
"It's a big bummer for us, really," Klinsmann said according to MLS Soccer. "He's our captain, and he's a leader in our group. What he's done for us over the past couple of years for us is priceless and seeing him limping off the field the other morning was a real shock to us.
"He was really hungry for these two friendlies. Since coming back to the US, he's struggled a little bit because of injury and I think it was a little overwhelming first few months for him because of the pressure," Klinsmann added. "He had just started to settle and get back into a good rhythm, looking physically good this week, and then this happens. He'll get a couple of weeks of rest and then he'll come back. It's a big blow."
Prediction: The United States will prove to be up for the challenge and manages a 1-0 win over Scotland.
Start Time: Kick-off starts at 3 p.m. EST.
